Places Leisure joins forces with the Aspire Channel Swim
Supporting people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury
Places Leisure and the Aspire Channel Swim are combining forces this year. The Aspire Channel Swim raises money for the charity Aspire and people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury, offering life-changing support.
The challenge is something that anyone can take part in, the goal is to swim 1416 lengths in 12 weeks, which is equivalent to 22 miles, the channel distance between England and France. It all kicks off in September this year.
Places Leisure will be helping to recruit swimmers across our network of 61 pools, encouraging participants to get swimming and raise funds for this vital charity.
Brian Carlin, Chief Executive of Aspire says “We are delighted to be partnering with Places Leisure in promoting the Aspire Channel Swim Challenge 2023. By working more closely together this year, we aim to encourage more Places Leisure participants than ever before. Meaning, more people will benefit from the improvements in physical health and mental wellbeing that previous participants have reported, whilst supporting the work of Aspire in helping spinal cord injured people go from injury to independence.”
