India's story
India has a host of goals she wants to achieve throughout 2024, all of which require a fair amount of training. “Lots of side swims, runs and long-distance hikes, so fitness is key!” India says.
Fitness has marked many milestones in India’s life. From competitive swimming as a child, then completing triathlons in her 20s, long distance half Iron Man’s, to loving sea dipping, surfing, climbing, and hiking. But she’s not stopping anytime soon!
“I swam competitively until I was in my teens. Then I went through the party phase before finding triathlon in my early 20s and falling back in love with swimming.”
India completed the Windermere One Way Swim last year and has a host of goals she wants to achieve throughout 2024, all of which require a fair amount of training. “Lots of side swims, runs and long-distance hikes, so fitness is key!” India says.
The first being completing the Herriot Way, which is a 53-mile loop around Yorkshire.
Ahead of the challenge, India has been testing out her walking kit in the Lake District and wants to fit in a few more gym and swim sessions to stay active. Recovery is also on her mind, as after she completes the challenge, India hopes to unwind in the sauna and do some yoga and pilates classes.
Alongside running and walking, India is also an avid long-distance swimmer, so she’s also got her eye on a couple of long-distance swimming events this year. “Last year, I completed Windermere one way swim (18km) coming 5th female.”

Her plans this year include a solo swim across the English Channel for her 30th birthday next year, as well as taking on Loch Ness. Already attending swimming sessions at her local club 3 times a week, we can’t wait to see her continue to make a splash!
So far, India has recently completed The Great Outdoor Challenge, a self-mapped, unsupported long distance walk from the west coast to the east coast of Scotland. She was the youngest soloist travelling around the country and she covered approximately 200 miles!
"It was a blast. Self planned, self mapped, and self sufficient...210 miles (340km) in 14 days from the east coast of Acharacle to the west coast of Montrose via the Corbetts, and the weather was fab. Wild camping, bothies, the legendary Newtonmore Hostel and then finishing in a luxury hotel."
In contrast to her recent rural adventure, India is now back in the pool getting ready for her next challenge!
