Sports at Dover District Leisure Centre
From booking a court with friends or learning a sport for the first time our centre has something that’s right for you. We work hard with the National Governing Bodies of a number of sports to fill our facilities with ideas that are fun and engaging.
Most of our sports are available to book online.
To do this you'll either need to be a member, or sign up for a free Places Membership.
Badminton
Badminton is an easy sport to learn and can be a very social game. The speed of the shuttlecock also makes this one of the quickest of the racket sports. It can be played at any pace making it enjoyable for all ages.
Badminton at Dover District Leisure Centre
Court hire
Our courts are available to be booked out for use seven days a week.
Price: £13.50 per hour for the court.
Please ask at reception if you would like the sports hall lights turned to Badminton mode.
No Strings Badminton
120 minutes of 'you time' on a badminton court – time to socialise, to de-stress, to keep fit, to compete against others, to challenge yourself.
- Every Tuesday & Thursday 10.00am - 12.00pm
- £4.30 per session.
All levels of badminton experience welcome - no matter what your skills are with the racket!
Available for 16 years +.
Sessions are bookable via the 'Sports' tab on our timetable.
Squash & Racketball
We have two squash and racketball courts available to book, with slots available every day of the week.
Each session costs £11 per court and is bookable via our timetable.
Pickleball
Pickleball is a new exciting sport which combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is a fun and competitive way to exercise, suitable for all levels of ability.
No Strings Pickleball sessions run between 1.00pm and 3.00pm on Tuesday
- Standard session - £13.50
- No Strings Pickleball - £4.30
Public courts are also available throughout the week which are our standard price of £13.50

Football
You can play in any weather on our 3G pitch so your game will never get rained off. The synthetic grass has shock absorbent rubber crumb, resulting in a safe and reliable surface with great grip.
You can only wear plastic moulded boots or artificial grass boots. Metal stud or blade boots will damage the pitch.

New Age Kurling
Enjoy this adapted version of the Winter Olympic sport of Ice Curling, only without the ice and all of that frantic sweeping! This session is aimed at anyone 55+ or anyone living with a long-term health condition. Make new friends and gain support from others.

Boccia
Played in the Paralympic games, Boccia is a pan-disability club suitable for all ages and abilities.

Walking Squash
We are beginning a 6-week Walking Squash course to help those with limited mobility keep fit and social.
Despite the course being aimed at those with less mobility, the course is open to all abilities who are interested in learning how to play squash.
Course information |
Led by a qualified Squash England coach, this course will teach you the basics of squash and offers relaxed and simple exercise in a social environment. All equipment is provided and is open for both members and non-members.

There are a number of sports clubs at Dover District Leisure Centre that are always on the lookout for new members.

Dover Junior Squash Club
There is also a junior division of the Club which is amazing for young people. All abilities welcome.

Dover Lifeguard Club
Dover Lifeguard Club run training sessions almost daily at our Centre. The club have a strong competitive team of swimmers, ranging from under 10s, to 16 years old and above.
Learn to swim programme offered for children who have passed their Stages 1-7 and wish to continue to participate in the Swim England Learn to Swim Awards Scheme, Stages 8-10 including Distance Awards. The Club also offers Lifesaving sessions in association with Royal Lifesaving Society (RLSS), training for 11yrs plus.
Masters session for Senior/Adult swimmers which meets a range of fitness or competitive goals. There is also a Junior Masters session for 13yrs-18yrs.
Dean Academy of Performing Arts - D.A.P.A
We offer Dance and Musical Theatre to children from 2 1/2 yrs and over. We are proud to say that D.A.P.A pupils have performed at celebrity weddings, Royal gala's and with Britain's got Talent winners.
We produce Annual shows, Pantomimes and Holiday workshops.
Little Kickers
Little Kickers are the world's biggest and most successful Pre-School Football Academy for young children. We cater for 4 different age groups:
- Little Kicks - 18 months to 2 1/2 years
- Junior Kicks - 2 1/2 years to 3 1/2 years
- Mighty Kickers - 3 1/2 years to 5 years
- Mega Kickers - 5 years to 7 years
Aire Trampoline Club
A non-profit community organisation passionate about providing each gymnast the opportunity to participate in a supportive, safe and rewarding environment that emphasises fun, enjoyment and skill learning at a level that fits their interest and ability.

Naturist Swimming Club
Did you know that Dover has its own naturist swimming club?
Meeting at Dover Leisure Centre every Sunday (October - March), 8.30pm - 9.30pm.
Costing £6 a session with a £5 annual club membership.

Dover Squash & Racketball Club is a friendly club who welcome all levels of players, new members are always welcome!

Deal Tri Club
The club actively promotes training and racing in swimming, cycling, running, triathlons, and duathlon.
Deal tri run two training sessions per week in our main pool.

New members are welcome to one trial session and if they enjoy the session, they can join up a members.
IKK Karate East Kent
The club is perfect for children, teenagers and adults. You will find our club friendly and you will receive a warm welcome. Karate can help you become fit and active but it is also great fun and you will learn some very useful self defence. Come along and give it a try.
Wear comfortable clothing you can move freely in, no shoes required, we do our karate bare foot.
Under 18's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on their first visit.

Scorpions Badminton Club
You can meet and play with like-minded people, work on your skills and get involved with competitions. We compete in the South Foreland and are members of Badminton England.

Micky T's Wellbeing & Fitness
Micky T's Wellbeing & Fitness is a relaxed and friendly community based mental health awareness and fitness club for children.
The club offers accessible fitness activities for children from a range of different backgrounds and varying abilities and is delivered by head instructor Micky, who is a qualified mental health first aid practitioner and fitness instructor.
Take Off, a local mental health charity, are affiliated with the club and a percentage of all memberships are donated to the charity to help with the incredible work they do within the community.
