Try something new
Sports at Alfreton Leisure Centre
From booking a court with friends or learning a sport for the first time our centre has something that’s right for you. We work hard with the National Governing Bodies of a number of sports to fill our facilities with ideas that are fun and engaging.
Most of our sports are available to book online.
To do this you'll either need to be a member, or sign up for a free Places Membership.
Bowls sessions
Our Bowls sessions take place in our Bowls hall between 10.00am-8.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.45am-2.15pm Saturday to Sunday.
We also run two open sessions per week:
- Tuesday 12.30pm for a 1.00pm start
- Friday 3.00pm for 3.30pm start

Badminton
Badminton is an easy sport to learn and can be a very social game. The speed of the shuttlecock also makes this one of the quickest of the racket sports. It can be played at any pace making it enjoyable for all ages.
We offer No Strings sessions for over 16's but they must be accompanied by an adult- all sessions can be booked via the timetable below.
No Strings Badminton
No Strings Badminton (NSB) is a national participation programme offering low-cost, fun ‘pay and play sessions’, with a at a venue near you, complete with an onsite co-ordinator to organise the running of the sessions. Providing participants with a friendly and welcoming environment to play badminton, socialise and keep fit on their terms, NSB is fully inclusive and open to adult players of any age or ability. To feel welcomed and encouraged to be active
- A relaxed environment that allows you to meet new friends whilst playing other attendees and have fun
- A coordinator on hand to organise the session and ensure everyone is rotated on court for games
- To feel motivated to come back week after week
Available to 16 years and over, please note that those under 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or Adult at each session.

Squash
We have various squash courts available to book, with slots available every day of the week.
Bookings are 40 minutes long.
Walking football
At Alfreton Leisure Centre, we offer Walking Football sessions. Relive the glory days with your mates and enjoy a game of football at walking pace.
Session times:
- Friday 10.00am - 12.00pm
- Thursday 8.00pm - 9.00pm
These sessions are not bookable and are drop-in sessions. Simply pay and play.
Pickleball
Pickleball is a new exciting sport which combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is a fun and competitive way to exercise, suitable for all levels of ability.

RASCALS – Ripley Amateur Swimming Club And Life Savers
With a Learn-To-Swim section as well, we offer training for aspiring and experienced athletes in both disciplines, from Local and County level through to Midland, National and International, with some who started with us reaching the Olympic Team, currently Molly Renshaw and Jacob Whittle.
This covers all aspects from stroke to turns and experience competing in Open Meets, Galas and Championships for both swimming and lifesaving sections, all following the guidance of the respective Governing Bodies: Swim England; RLSS & Surf GB.
All of this with fun, friends and family in mind, as they can help too!
