The benefits of Forever Active
No matter your ability or fitness level, our Forever Active days provide a safe, friendly environment for everyone to get active, whatever their goal.
Our studio and pool classes are instructor-led, so you’ll have our expert staff to support, guide and motivate you throughout your workout. If you’re in the gym for a Forever Active session, you’ll have the freedom to choose what kind of exercises you’d like to do. Rest assured, there will still be an instructor on-hand to answer your questions – or even have a friendly chat with!
Forever Active sessions focus on low-impact exercise, which is a great option for anybody looking to take care of their joints, boost their mobility, or generally have a gentler approach to exercise. You can read more about the benefits of low impact exercise below.
What do I need for a Forever Active session?
What you bring will depend on which session you pick and the centre you’re visiting. You may find yourself in the pool, in the gym, or in one of our studios for a class!
For the gym or a class, make sure you wear stretchy clothes and trainers that allow for maximum body movement. For anything pool-based, you’ll need the usuals - swimming costume or trunks, as well as goggles and a swim hat for extra comfort. You can read our full swimwear policy here.
No need to worry about equipment either, this will be provided wherever your session is taking place.
Don’t forget to pack a bottle of water in your workout bag so that you can stay hydrated, as well as a post-workout snack to keep your energy up. As with any type of workout, you’ll be working up a sweat!
Get started with Forever Active
Want to give Forever Active a go? You’ll need a Forever Active membership – simply ask a member of staff at reception at your nearest centre for more information!
If you’d prefer to come and go as you like, you can still join the sessions on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Remember – you can find Forever Active sessions and manage your bookings via our app!
Staying active with age couldn’t be more important, especially when it comes to preventing and managing health conditions. According to the NHS, adults aged 65 and over should aim to be physically active everyday (lighter activities still work great!) and do activities that improve strength, balance, and flexibility at least two days a week.
